Inspection systems for inline testing of longitudinally conveyed products

Long products such as bars and billets as well as tubes and pipes are critical components in many areas of infrastructure and must be free of defects. Our LOCIS inspection system offers a UT phased array solution for non-destructive testing of the aforementioned products to inspect for various flaws such as surface cracks, internal and wall thickness related defects.

The system is based on our own electronics and software platform and free of any mechanically moving or rotating components. It can be adjusted to new diameters and different test requirements in just a few moments thanks to geometry-specific change parts and electronically stored test data sets.

LOCIS for Bars & Billets

System for non-destructive testing of bars and billets

Thanks to its compact dimensions, our LOCIS inspection system can be easily and quickly integrated into the given environment, whether as a new installation or as a replacement. The complete system, consisting of testing mechanics, water system, control unit, evaluation electronics and software and phased array probes has a modular design, so that even partial replacement of existing systems is possible without great effort. By using a rotating water column and static probes, bars and billets with different geometric shapes such as square, hexagonal or round material with a diameter range of 8-160 mm can be tested for internal and (sub-) surface defects with minimal conversion measures. LOCIS also fulfills the current ultrasonic testing standards of the automotive and aerospace industries such as NADCAP, ISO18563 and AMS STD2154 Class AA & AAA.

LOCIS for Tubes & Pipes

System for non-destructive testing of tubes and pipes

The LOCIS is a latest-generation non-destructive testing system integrated into the roller conveyor for testing longitudinally conveyed pipes using phased array ultrasound and a rotating water jacket. The material is inspected for internal defects and longitudinal cracks on the inner and outer surface. In addition, the wall thickness is measured and evaluated online. The modular design without mechanically moving components enables the testing of pipes and tubes with a diameter of typically 60 to 180 mm without major mechanical conversion measures.
