Rosenxt presents innovative approaches to Offshore Structural Integrity

At the 2024 API Offshore Structural Reliability Conference, Partha Dev, Head of UK Offshore Structures at Rosenxt, delivered two impactful technical papers at the annual plenary session of ISO TC67 SC7 (Offshore Structures).

The papers, entitled

  1. "Fitness for Service Assessment Toolkit for Offshore Fixed Structures" (co-authors: Mike Efthymiou, Frank Puskar and Ramsay Fraser) and
  2. "Introduction of Risk based Inspection (RBI) methodology in ISO 1990 1-9 ed. 2" (co-authors: Augusto Moggia Cappelletti and Mathieu Bargues),

explain how the assessment of offshore substructures will be carried out and how subsea inspections will be optimized in the future (combining the risk-based and structural reliability approaches). The event highlighted some of the difficult decisions currently faced by all structural engineers when dealing with stringent environmental criteria (e.g. breaking waves) and structural reliability issues under wave in deck actions. It was also suggested that applying a risk-based approach within a hierarchical FFS framework will open up exciting new possibilities for risk management measures.
